Planner selected for FC trail project
FORD CITY - Council has awarded a contract to develop the master plan for a trail on former PPG property now owned by the borough.
A state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources grant of $15,000 was provided for the borough and was matched by $15,000 committed by the Greater Ford City Community Development Corporation for the $30,000 cost of the plan.
Kim Petrie, executive director of the Greater Ford City Community Development Corporation, said at borough council's public meeting Monday that the corporation board recommends Pashek Associates of Pittsburgh after reviewing several proposals.
"They're best qualified to complete the masterplan for the trail with a park-like setting," Petrie said.
Petrie also told council that the contractor for the shell improvements phase of the Shop 2 building in the borough's Heritage and Industrial Park, Kusevich Contracting, was granted a 60-day extension due to unforeseen delays. The extension moves the expected completion date from January until March.
Council announced that Jim Marcinek, a member of the Greater Ford City Community Development Corporation board of directors as a citizen-at-large, is resigning from the board, creating a vacancy.
Council will meet again Dec. 18 to vote on a 2004 budget and tax ordinance.
