Tickets on sale for KHS's 'Grease'

Kittanning Senior High School will present the Broadway musical "Grease" at 7 p.m. April 3, 4 and 5, with an added matinee at 2 p.m. April 5. Tickets are on sale 3-10 p.m. every day for the matinee only in the lobby of the school's Performing Arts Center. The other shows are sold out.

Access is from the school parking lot on Johnston Avenue. All tickets are reserve seating only; cost is $6. Questions may be directed tot he KHS Performing Arts Center at 724-543-1591.

West Hills holds fund-raiser

The Playground Committee at West Hills Elementary School PTO will sponsor a visit by Antiquities Photographs. On sale now are $10 coupons for a sitting fee and a 10- by 13-inch photograph. Advance purchase of tickets is required for scheduling; photographs will be taken April 10, 11 and 12 at Harvest Community Church in Kittanning.

Limit is one coupon per family; photographs are for children younger than 16.

Story time in Ford City

Spring Story Time at the Ford City Public Library will be held 5:30-6:30 p.m. beginning Wednesday and will continue every Wednesday until April 30. Children ages 2-7 may attend. No membership is required.

SAT prep class offered by district

The Armstrong School District will offer an SAT preparation class for students in grades 9-12 at a cost of $50. The classes will be held 9 a.m.-noon Saturdays, beginning this week and continuing April 5, 12 and 19 in the Ford City High School Library.

Interested students are asked to send their name, address and a $50 check payable to "ASD" to Mrs. Rosemary Valasek, F.C.H.S., Fourth Avenue, Ford City, PA 16226.

St. Vincent holds Get Acquainted Day

The St. Vincent College Office of Admission and Financial Aid has announced a Get Acquainted Day Open House for prospective students and their families on April 13. Registration will be held 11:30-11:45 a.m. After the welcome students will have an introduction to the college; admission and financial aid presentations; a student panel; campus tours; and opportunities to meet faculty, administrators and coaches. The event will conclude at 3 p.m.

Early arrivals also have the option of attending Mass in the historic St. Vincent Basilica and/or having brunch in the student dining hall.

Seton Hill holds open house

Seton Hill University will hold a spring open house for prospective students and families on April 13. Guests may tour the campus and meet with Seton Hill admissions, faculty, student services and financial aid representatives.

Healthy Kids Day set by YMCA

The Armstrong County YMCA will hold Healthy Kids Day noon-3 p.m. Saturday. This is a national event that celebrates mission-based programs in support of healthy growth and development of kids.

The event celebrates making fitness fun and introduces families to an array of programs available in the community, including Keystone Tall Tree Council of Girl Scouts and Moraine Trails Council of Boy Scouts, local libraries, UPMC programs and Communities That Care. The Fire Safety House and The Environmental Learning Center will have programming for kids of all ages. The Kittanning Girls basketball team will assist in games.

Basket bingo set for March 30

Longaberger Basket Bingo will be held Sunday at the West Kittanning fire hall. Doors open at 1 p.m. and bingo begins at 2 p.m. Ticket price of $20 includes snacks, beverages, 15 games of basket bingo and one chance to win the grand prize basket. Extra bingo games, special bingo games, auction tickets and a fundraiser drawing will be held.

Tickets may be purchased at Clay-Wood Lumber Co. or Beauty Connection, both in West Kittanning, and Devine Designs by Audrey in Worthington; or call Cristin at 724-548-2828 or Connie at 724-548-2148.

All proceeds will assist in the purchase of playground equipment for the children of West Hills Elementary School. The event is sponsored by the West Hills Elementary School PTO, Playground Committee.

School holds annual fund-raiser

Grace Christian School will conduct its yearly garage and bake sale 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m. April 5 in the school gymnasium in Grace Hall, 215 Arthur St., West Kittanning. Home-baked goods will be available for sale, as well as food and beverages. All proceeds benefit Grace Christian School.

Kittanning Library holds activity day

The Kittanning Public Library will hold a children's activity day 1-3 p.m. April 5. To celebrate spring and warmer weather, students in grades K-6 may take part in stories, crafts and special activities. No library card is required to attend, and all children are welcome.

Registration set by Butterfly Hill

Butterfly Hill Preschool has opened registration for the 2008-2009 school year. September's classes will mark the beginning of the preschool's 16th year of service to the community. The Christian-based preschool is accepting registrations for 3-, 4- and 5-year-old children.

The school offers a two-day program for 3-year-olds and a three-day pre-kindergarten program for 4- and 5-year-olds.

Rainbow Road registration accepted

The Kittanning United Methodist Church is accepting applications for Rainbow Road Preschool for the 2008-2009 school year. Forms are available by calling the church office or visiting www.firstchurchkittanning.com.

Children who will be 3 years old by Sept. 1 are eligible for the two-day program, and children who will be 4 by Sept. 1 will attend three days per week.
