The following cooking schools have announced these classes and other events.

  • "Wines Under $10," a tasting of reds and whites with Diane Martz, 6 to 8 p.m. April 16, $40.
  • "Kids in the Kitchen: Family Dinner," with Alyson Sprague, 10 a.m. to noon April 17, $35.
  • "Market Day," with KC Lapiana, featuring participants creating a meal using a group of "secret" ingredients, 6 to 8 p.m. April 20.
  • "Knife Skills," with Marty McQuinlan, a hands-on class of the basics, plus a healthful vegetable soup, 6 to 8 p.m. April 22, $35.
  • "Indian Cuisine" with Naveed Reza, featuring chicken curry, 10 a.m. to noon April 27, $35.

  • "Carol Tabone: The Pacific Northwest," featuring the director of Jungle Jim's Cooking School in Cincinnati on wine and food of the Northwest, noon to 3 p.m. April 24, $60.
  • "Carol Tabone: Brunch in Bloom," noon to 3 p.m. April 25, $45.
  • "Safe Food," with Cindy Javor, registered dietitian for Penn State Cooperative Extension, a class about how to keep food safe during barbecues, when shopping and eating out, and a discussion of food labels, 7 to 8:30 p.m. April 26, $20.
  • "Lunch & Learn," featuring General Tso's Chicken, noon to 1 p.m. April 28, $18.
  • "Doughboys at Crate," with Chris Fennimore and Joe Certo on the art of easy bread making with nothing but a food processor, 6:30 to 9 p.m. April 29, $40.
