PennDOT updates status of road projects
PennDOT District 12 has announced the status of several road repair projects in the area as of Sept. 29.
In Westmoreland County:
Closings of other side streets (McCloy Avenue, Carson Avenue, Branthoover Cutoff, Laird Drive, School Road and Cozy Inn) occur as construction proceeds in a west to east direction.
One-lane traffic patterns continue in eastbound lanes from Technology Drive to Andrews Drive and on both the eastbound and westbound lanes from Andrews Drive to Plaza Drive.
The westbound lanes along Route 30 are reduced to a single lane through December. Drain installation is starting in the slow lane. Crews also are working on installing new traffic signals throughout the project area.
Route 30 will be reopened to unrestricted traffic flow in the winter, but the project will resume in April. The project is expected to be completed in November 2005.
A reduced speed limit of 35 miles per hour is in effect during construction.
The $2.8 million project in Derry Township includes lowering the grade under the Norfolk Southern Railroad line and replacing the bridge carrying Route 981 over Saxman Run immediately north of Latrobe-Derry Road.
