Uniontown man charged with slashing, beating girlfriend
A Uniontown man faces numerous charges after allegedly beating a woman and slashing her with a knife during an argument Tuesday night in South Union, state police said.
Ronald Dale Fitzgerald, 55, of 127 Apt. B Varndell St. had attended a party with April M. Boyer, 41, of 220 Crossland Ave., South Union, near Boyer's residence, police said. After leaving the party, the pair returned to Boyer's apartment and began an argument that escalated into a fight.
Fitzgerald allegedly struck Boyer numerous times in the head and legs, police said. He threatened to kill her and then slashed her left arm with a knife, police said. Boyer was treated at Uniontown Hospital for an open knife wound to her left arm and scratches and bruises to her legs, head and neck, police said.
Fitzgerald was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and making terroristic threats. He is lodged in the Fayette County jail after failing to post $50,000 bond.
