Driver accused of DUI, fleeing traffic stop in Indiana
An Indiana County man was jailed Friday for allegedly fleeing from police, damaging property and threatening an officer during an attempted traffic stop for suspicion of driving under the influence.
Mark Thompson of Indiana drove through a stop sign at a high rate of speed at 12:15 a.m. at North 10th and Oak streets, said borough policeman Michael Raglani.
Thompson fled into White Township after police attempted to conduct an initial traffic stop. His Cadillac Escalade struck two retaining walls and some shrubs before he pulled into a private driveway and fled on foot, Raglani said.
Thompson later threatened an officer at Indiana Regional Medical Center, Raglani said.
He was charged with DUI, trespass by motor vehicle, fleeing or attempting to elude, accidents involving damage to unattended property, careless driving, reckless driving, recklessly endangering another person and terroristic threats.
Thompson was arraigned before Blairsville District Judge Jennifer Rega and released on a $10,000 unsecured bond, Raglani said.
