Coroner: Cecil woman's stabbing death a homicide
Police continued Sunday to investigate the stabbing death of a Cecil Township woman but released no new details.
Brenda Gaye Dunkovich, 40, died in her Papp Road home just before midnight Friday when police say she called 911 for help in a domestic dispute.
When officers arrived, they heard a disturbance and forced their way inside the home. Dunkovich was found on the second floor with a man whom they did not identify. Both had suffered stab wounds, police said.
The man was taken to Allegheny General Hospital, North Side, where his condition was unknown.
Police did not disclose additional details about the stabbings or describe the relationship between Dunkovich and the man.
Washington County Coroner Tim Warco ruled the death a homicide.
According to her Facebook page, Dunkovich graduated from Central Dauphin High School in Harrisburg and went on to earn a finance degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1992 and an additional finance degree from Carnegie Mellon University in 1994. She worked as the business manager at Pleasant Hills Community Presbyterian Church.
Messages left at the church seeking comment were not returned.
