Man impersonating police officer stops car
A man pretending to be a police officer stopped a Fayette County woman Saturday and searched her car.
The man, who was driving an unmarked white sedan, stopped the Uniontown-area woman at 2:45 p.m. Saturday near Ben Franklin School on Morgantown Road. The man told the woman her car was wanted, and that she needed to take it to the Uniontown state police barracks.
Troopers there determined that the man was an imposter, said Wayne Brown, an officer with the Uniontown City Police.
The woman was not injured, Brown said. She told police the man was between 30 and 35 years old and approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall. He wore a black suit and identified himself as a detective.
The man showed no police identification, Brown said. He had a blue emergency light on his dashboard.
Unmarked police cars generally have a red emergency light, Brown said. Marked cruisers typically have both red and blue lights.
