Donegal adopts emergency plan
Donegal Borough has joined the ranks. On Tuesday council passed a motion adopting a countywide emergency operation plan.
According to Bob Nicodemus, the newly appointed emergency management coordinator for the borough, each municipality is required to have an emergency plan but, in the past, they all have had their own versions.
With the terrorist attacks, emergency personnel found it imperative that everyone make use of the same plan in handling emergencies.
The emergency plan is actually a requirement of the Pennsylvania Emergency Management and Federal Emergency Management agencies.
In other business, Secretary Sarah Harkcom submitted a letter of resignation. Harkcom, who has served the borough for more than 10 years, said she is stepping down because of the state's requirements that official paperwork and documents be done on the computer.
"They want reports done on the computer and I just can't do that," she said.
