Projects could slow motorists through Ligonier
Motorists traveling in the Ligonier area should be advised of two road projects that begin today, according to information provided by PennDOT District 12.
A project on Route 30 between West Main and Walnut streets involves replacement of the bridge over Mill Creek near the sewage plant. Route 30 eastbound traffic will be crossed over at West Main Street to the westbound lanes and crossed back over prior to Walnut Street. Traffic will be limited to one lane in each direction.
The second project, on Route 711, is located between Nicely Road and Route 30. The bridge over Loyalhanna Creek at the Route 30 intersection is being replaced.
During the first phase of this project, Route 711 northbound and southbound traffic will alternate crossing the bridge in one lane, using the traffic signal at the Route 30 and 711 intersection. While in the second phase, traffic moving in both directions on Route 711 will each have a lane while the last section of the bridge deck is replaced.
The projects are set to be completed by the end of August, weather permitting. The contractor is Swank Associated Companies of New Kensington.
