Indecent exposure alleged again in Greensburg
A man with a history of exposing himself was charged Thursday with committing the same crime in front of a woman and her 3-year-old child in downtown Greensburg.
Timothy Lee Hankinson, 35, of 617 Vine St., Greensburg, was arraigned yesterday before Greensburg District Judge James Albert on charges of indecent exposure, stalking, open lewdness and harassment.
Hankinson exposed himself shortly after 8 p.m. near a convenience on West Pittsburgh Street, police allege. He was taken into custody shortly afterward, when the woman saw his green Chevrolet Cavalier while police were questioning her, according to court papers.
At the police station, authorities asked Hankinson if he ever previously committed a similar crime. He said, " 'Yes, several times. I don't know what charges, I do it so often,' " according to the court papers.
The alleged victim recounted other episodes involving Hankinson that date back to May, police said.
On one occasion, he drove his car slowly while the victim was walking, police said. Another time he drove the wrong way down a one-way street to prevent the woman from getting a license plate number, the court papers state.
A similar episode happened in June near another convenience store, the woman said.
During some of the incidents, Hankinson committed a lewd act, authorities reported.
He was jailed in lieu of posting $50,000 bond, court records show.
Hankinson was sentenced to serve 12 to 24 months in prison for his guilty plea to an indecent exposure charge from a 2002 case in Erie County, according to court records.
Records further show he served jail time in connection with a guilty plea to a charge of indecent assault on a person less than 16 years in 2001, also in Erie County.
