Rifle/trap leagues

  • For the second week in a row, at least two shooters fired perfect 300s in the Pittsburgh and Suburban Rifle League.

    John Husk of Frazier-Simplex had his second perfect score on the year in leading his team (19-0) to a 1482-1458 win over White Oak (11-8). White Oak's Ray Harvey fired his fourth 300 of the year in a losing effort.

    Elsewhere, Dormont-Mt. Lebanon (16-3) rolled over Green Valley (10-9) 1476-1463, Murrysville (9-10) downed Allegheny (4-14) 1457-1426, and Clymer (6-13) beat Irwin Post 228 (0-18) 1456-1282.

    Melissa Stillwagon was high lady with a 295, while Tom Santelli was high junior with a 295. Both shoot for Frazier-Simplex. Bob King of Clymer was high senior with a 296.

  • Murrysville remains atop the A-team standings in the Allegheny Valley Rifle League, but Kiski is keeping the pressure on. Murrysville (16-2) downed Crowfoot (7-10) 1187-1169, while Kiski (14-3) beat Fort Hand (7-9) 1185-1165. Tarentum (3-13), meanwhile, beat Buffalo Valley (0-16) 1157-1143. Kittanning was idle.

    In the B-team standings, Murrysville is in first place at 17-1, followed by Kittanning (12-4), Kiski (12-5), Crowfoot (9-8), Tarentum (4-12), Buffalo Valley (3-13), and Fort Hand (1-15).

    Top shooter for the week was Murrysville's Ray Harvey, who fired a 299. Top senior was Crowfoot's George Saniga with a 292, top junior was Murrysville's Jon Long with a 298, and top female was Murrysville's Diana Emerick with a 296.

  • Connellsville Sportsmen won the first shoot of the 2004 Twi-Night Trap League. Shooting at Ruffsdale, Connellsville shooters broke 198 targets, followed by Ruffsdale (197), East Huntingdon (195) and Herminie (192).

    Connellsville earned four points, Ruffsdale three, East Huntingdon two and Herminie one.
