  • The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission will host a "Family Fishing Clinic" from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 20 at Temple Grove campground. The hands-on program will cover everything from angler ethics to rigging a fishing pole and will include time to fish. The clinic is free and all equipment and materials will be provided.   • Shawn's Archery will hold an open house from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 13 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 14. There will be unlimited 3-D shoots for $3, a long-range 50-50 shoot, walking deer shoot, and two-man team 3-D shoot.   • Local Chapter #1 of the National Wild Turkey Federation is holding its annual JAKES youth field day from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Aug. 13 on the Sportsmen's Association of Greensburg grounds in Norvelt. The event is open to children ages 10 to 13. There will be programs on hunting dogs, .22 rifle and muzzleloader shooting, canoeing, turkey calling, shotgun shooting, archery, and an outdoor obstacle course. walk-ins are welcome.   • Irwin Sportsmen's Association will hold an NRA hunter's pistol and cowboy rifle silhouette shoot Oct. 1, with registration from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Call Bruce Lumsden at 412-613-5775.   • Herminie #2 Sportsmen Association hosts bowling pin pistol league shoots at 6 p.m. every Monday except holidays. Cost is $5 per shoot and $4 per practice. There are classes for open and scoped sights and the public is welcome. Call Larry at 724-446-1243.

  • Rostraver Sportsmen and Conservation Association holds trap practice at 10 a.m. Thursdays and 1 p.m. Saturdays. A 3-D archery shoot will be held today, with registration starting at 8 a.m. Call 724-872-4399.

  • Indiana County Bow and Gun Club will hold a 3-D archery shoot Aug. 14. Sign-ups are from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. The kitchen will be open. Call Brian Long at 724-422-6326.

  • The Southern Alleghenies Conservancy is hosting a benefit sporting clays shoot at 9 a.m. Aug. 28 at the Stonycreek Shooting Center, located along Kimmel Road near Berlin, Somerset County. Cost for the Lewis class event is $75 if paid by Aug. 19, $85 if paid thereafter. To register, call 814-279-3020. All shooters will compete for cash prizes and receive a T-shirt and meal.

  • Roscoe Sportsman's Association has a youth trap league for people up to age 18 and an adult trap league. Practice rounds are welcome both days. Call the club at 724-938-9080 Wednesday evenings or Sundays between 1 and 9 p.m. for times.

  • Kingston Veterans and Sportsmen will hold a 3-D archery shoot Aug. 14, with registration from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the clubhouse. Youths and cubs shoot for free. Call 724-539-9303.

  • The Sigel Sportsmen's Club will hold a 3-D archery shoot Aug. 14, with registration from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The club is located one half mile north of Sigel on Route 949.

  • Mars Rod and Gun Club will hold a 30-target mixed bag and exotics 3-D archery shoot Aug. 20-21, with registration from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Refreshments will be available. Cost is $8 for adults and $7 for youths ages 12 to 15. Those 11 and younger shoot for free. Call 724-538-9392.

  • Old Westmoreland Rifles is hosting a blackpowder shoot Aug. 14 beginning at 1 p.m. There will be a paper target shoot at 10 a.m. today.   • Connellsville Sportsmen's Club hosts trap practice from 5 to 10 p.m. Tuesdays.

  • West Penn Sportsmen's Club has a heated, covered, and lighted five stand range. Shooting hours are 4 to 9 p.m. Thursdays and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sundays. The trap ranges are open 4:30 to 9 p.m. Thursdays.

  • East Monongahela Sportsmen's Club will hold a 40-target 3-D archery shoot, with six tree stand shots, Aug. 14, with registration from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a high-power shoot Aug. 27 beginning at 9 a.m. The club holds 25-yard pistol pin shoots Mondays at 6:30 and 25-yard pistol pin and 50-yard silhouette shoots Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. Trap practice is Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. All events are open to the public.   • East Huntingdon Sportsman's Club will hold a 40-target 3-D archery bowhunter weekend Sept. 3-4, with registration from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The club is also running an indoor archery league, with shooting on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evenings.   • Pitcairn Monroeville Sportsmen's Club, 505 Mosside Blvd., North Versailles, hosts trap shoots Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. A lighted five-stand sporting clays course is open to the public from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays.
