Rostraver police nab fugitive from Florida
Rostraver Township Police Chief Greg Resetar said officers last week arrested a fugitive from justice - Johnny Arnold Logan, 56, of 72 Zundel St.
'This is an old, old case,' Resetar said. 'This guy has an extensive criminal history dealing with kids.'
Resetar said Logan is wanted in Brevard County, Fla., on charges that he twice violated probation stemming from a 1978 case in Titusville. In that case, Logan served time for lewd and lascivious assault, sexual battery and kidnapping.
Resetar reported that Logan, who sometimes uses the alias Edward Arnold Osborne, also served time in Washington County in the early 1970s on charges of statutory rape and corrupting the morals of minors. Resetar said Logan listed himself as a female on the police report filed.
Officers from Brevard County tracked Logan down through the U.S. Postal Service, and eventually realized he was receiving mail in Pricedale under two names.
Brevard County issued a warrant for Logan's arrest and asked Rostraver police to pick him up. Resetar said Logan wasn't at home when officers first went to arrest him. Neighbors were asked to call 911 when Logan returned home.
When police arrived, Logan tried to escape out the back door, 'but we had the canine unit out there and he thought better of it,' Resetar said.
The chief said there is no statute of limitations on probation violations. Logan may waive extradition to Florida or fight it through the court system.
In the meantime, he is being held in Westmoreland County Prison on $50,000 bond imposed by night court District Justice Mark Mansour.
