New Medicare plan only pleases the wealthy
We've always had excellent health care, including prescription coverage, through my husband's former employer. But if we're forced into the new Medicare plan, as described in your June 18 article, that could change in a hurry.
All of those senior citizens who voted for George Bush must be really proud of his plan and those of us who didn't should storm Washington. But, I guess that wouldn't be patriotic. He sure is leaving senior citizens behind just as he has the children. He probably hopes we'll all curl up and die, except for the rich ones. The article stated experts in health policies and public opinion agree this is a bad plan.
If the senior citizen happens to be a veteran, they're also talking of increasing prescriptions from $7 each to $15 a month with a deductible of $250. The cost has already gone from $2 to $7 since Bush took office.
Our leaders (both Democratic and Republican) have no idea how ordinary people live. A lot of them are millionaires and get lots of perks, including wonderful medical care. What we need is a new party of people, for the people, by the people vs. the rich, for the rich, by the rich. The Democrats are dumb and dead and the Republicans are sneaky and scary. So there's not much to look forward to.
