Springdale defeats West Deer

American Legion

• Springdale 11, West Deer 3 -- Shortstop Joe Killian went 4 for 4 with three RBI to lead a 15-hit attack, as Springdale (2-1) piled up seven runs in the first inning in an Allegheny River League game. Winning pitcher Donnie Sippel struck out six in five innings. First baseman J.T. Healy added two hits and three RBI.

Zach Reichart singled twice for West Deer.

• Highlands American Legion (Post 226) 6, Highlands Pioneerhose 2 -- For American Legion, Ryan Richards tripled and doubled twice, Nate Mckinney singled and Andrew Jewart singled. For Pioneerhose, Blake Lery played well defensively and Damon McDermott singled twice.

• Leechburg Jean Stull CPA Tigers 4, Apollo Darren Papaila's Excavation Inc. Pirates 1 -- For the Tigers, Josh Rowe singled twice, Chuck Stull singled and Jake Ritchie pitched well. For the Pirates, Brian Worst doubled, and Colton Robb singled and pitched well.

• Freeport Rock-A-Fellas Pirates 10, Lower Burrell Kreashko 7 -- For Freeport, Brodey Cowan pitched well, doubled and singled, Zane Zeppuhar pitched well and scored a run, and Slade Ohl played well defensively and scored a run. For Lower Burrell, Zach Kerr singled twice and Jacob Kernan singled.

• Springdale 5, NHBSA No. 1 KC&C 1 -- For Springdale, Nick Taliani doubled and singled, Parker Kline singled twice and Sam Breyak doubled. for NHBSA, Corey Nicastro and Dylan Chelko pitched well.

• Kiski Home Wink 20, Apollo Irwin Interior System 5 -- For Kiski, Katie Ritenbaugh doubled, Heidi Neumann singled and Cassie Shoupe pitched well. For Apollo, Hannah Brown and Lacey Lauster played well.

• Riverview Raiders 10, Natrona Heights Bengel's Law and Order 9 -- For Riverview, Gretchen Loeffler drove in two runs, Elaina Lowe singled and Leah Sero scored the winning run. For Natrona Heights, Emily Weissert singled and Tori Grinchuk played well defensively.

For Berlin, Ashley Drobka doubled and singled, and Maryssa Williams singled twice.

• Natrona Heights Raymond's Photography 11, Northmoreland Pirates 1 -- For Natrona Heights, Nicole Fortuna singled and scored twice, Keyania Edgar singled twice and scored twice, and Grayce McCafferty singled and scored a run. For Northmoreland, Emily Kramer singled and scored, and Marina Stascak had an RBI.

• Kiski won the Memorial Weekend Wooden Bat bash in Lyndora last weekend, defeating Lyndora (5-1), Hampton (1-0), North Allegheny (7-2) and Seneca Valley (3-2). Kiski took a 2-0 lead in the first inning of the championship game, but Seneca Valley came back to force extra innings. In the 11th inning, Matt McCutcheon hit what turned out to be the game-winning double.

• Kiski 16, Freeport 4 -- For Kiski, Doug Donatelli struck out 14, Adam Beallish singled twice and doubled, and Shawn McGowan singled twice. For Freeport, Josh Luchesa doubled and Ethan McCormick doubled. Allegheny River Mustang

• Kiski Valley Sowol Masonry 11, North Hills 7 -- For Kiski Valley, Tristan Haney doubled and singled twice, Ryan Sowol doubled and singled twice, and Trent Mator doubled and singled.

Springdale Senior

• West Point Spartans 8, Springdale Lower Valley Chiropractic Orioles 4 -- For Springdale, Brandon Stiehler tripled and drove in two runs, Anthony Mariani singled, and Mike Liko singled and scored.
