Billy Ray Cyrus helps Lil Nas X take 'Old Town Road' viral
Lil Nas X had no problem making his remix of ‘Old Town Road’ a hit on TikTok. But he was having some trouble getting that success counted on the charts.
Billboard removed him from the country charts, reports Paper magazine, but claimed it wasn’t due to Lil Nas X’s race. The work just wasn’t country enough.
Billy Ray Cyrus stepped in to lend some support, telling Lil Nas X to “Take this as a compliment.”
.@LilNasX Been watching everything going on with OTR. When I got thrown off the charts, Waylon Jennings said to me “Take this as a compliment” means you’re doing something great! Only Outlaws are outlawed. Welcome to the club!
