Joe Manganiello reveals engagement to Caitlin O'Connor
Joe Manganiello is heading down the aisle again, two years after announcing his divorce from Sofía Vergara.
The “True Blood” alum, who split from Vergara in 2023, revealed his engagement to actress and TV host Caitlin O’Connor in an Instagram post on Friday, Oct. 17.
The post features a photo of Manganiello, 48, and O’Connor, 36, cuddling up for a sweet selfie with their dog, a chihuahua named Bubbles. O’Connor can be seen resting her hand on Manganiello’s forearm, showing off the sparkly engagement ring.
” June 24th, 2025 ,” Manganiello wrote, seemingly referring to the date of his proposal.
Manganiello reportedly introduced O’Connor as his fiancée during an appearance at the San Diego International Film Festival on Thursday, Oct. 16, per TMZ.
Why did Joe Manganiello, Sofía Vergara break up?
Manganiello filed for divorce from Vergara on July 19, 2023, after seven years of marriage. Nearly two weeks later, the “Modern Family” alum petitioned a Los Angeles court to dissolve her marriage with Manganiello due to irreconcilable differences and uphold the pair’s prenuptial agreement.
Manganiello and Vergara reportedly finalized their divorce in February 2024, according to People magazine.
In a January 2024 interview with El País, Vergara opened up about the breakdown of her marital relationship with Manganiello, citing the former couple’s differing views on having children.
“My marriage broke up because my husband was younger; he wanted to have kids and I didn’t want to be an old mom,” Vergara said at the time. “I feel it’s not fair to the baby. I respect whoever does it, but that’s not for me anymore.”
Manganiello was Vergara’s second husband. She was previously married to Joe Gonzalez, with whom she shares a son, 34-year-old Manolo Vergara. She and Gonzalez divorced in 1993.
However, in a July 2024 interview with Men’s Journal, Manganiello disputed his ex’s characterization of their divorce. “That’s simply not true,” he told the magazine. The issue of having children “wasn’t inevitably why everything ended. It’s because two people grew apart, and sometimes that happens.”
He added: “To be painted as if I had some sort of midlife crisis, and after nine years, turned to somebody and gave them an ultimatum of, ‘Do this potentially unhealthy thing to your body, or else I’m gone’? That’s never who I was.”
Who is Caitlin O’Connor?
A Los Angeles native, O’Connor has appeared in several top TV shows over the years, including “Entourage,” “Key and Peele,” “Two and a Half Men” and “Ray Donovan.”
In 2023, O’Connor landed a two-episode stint as Dyan Cannon on the HBO sports drama “Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty.”
In addition to acting, O’Connor has hosted for E! News, Maxim, Arsenic, The Chive and AfterBuzz TV.
Aside from their romance, O’Connor and Manganiello have bonded over their love of animals. In a May interview with USA Today, Manganiello dished on how O’Connor turned their dog Bubbles into a social media star.
“I swore I was never going to do an Instagram account for the dog, I wasn’t going to be that guy,” Manganiello said. “But my girlfriend started one. And so, she posts, and she’s doing a great job.”
