Families get up close and personal with their favorite tyrannosaurus, triceratops, diplodocus, velociraptor and more at Dinosaur Adventure Dec. 27-29 at Monroeville Convention Center.

A new traveling dinosaur exhibit will hit Monroeville Convention Center just in time to provide some post-Christmas indoor fun and educational activities for kids of all ages during the holiday break.

Dinosaur Adventure, produced by Pinnacle Productions Group based in Shoreview, Minn., features 80 realistic dinosaurs — some towering as high as 40 feet — that move and roar, giving families the opportunity to get up-close and personal with their favorite tyrannosaurus, triceratops, diplodocus, velociraptor and more.

Chris Plakut, lead entertainer, said there’s plenty to do for the entire family when they “roar into town” during their weekend stop Dec. 27-29 on their current tour of more than 30 cities in the northeastern U.S.

“Kids can create a fossil to take home, ride a Jurassic Jeep, try out a prehistoric-themed obstacle course and bounce house and have their face painted,” he said. “We also have walking dinosaur rides, a great retail shop and live entertainment.”

They also will have a chance to experience the thrill of excavation in a realistic fossil search using actual paleontologist tools and techniques.

Spend a day with the dinos

The live entertainment will feature Velociraptor training sessions, a walking dinosaur show, a dinosaur dance along, and a baby dinosaur meet and greet. Performances will take place throughout the event; show times will be posted at the convention center.

Andy Emerson, operations manager for Dinosaur Adventure, said the attraction is “a wonderful opportunity not only to spend time with your family, but to also go back in time and spend a day with the dinosaurs.”

He said that while seeing the life-sized dinosaurs is worth the visit alone, “we also have many themed activities for children. From riding their favorite dinosaur to realistic fossil searches, Dinosaur Adventure is an experience they will remember for a long time.”

Admission ranges from $18 to $55 and includes an Ultimate Dinosaur Adventure for ages 2-12 that offers unlimited dinosaur rides, crafts and activities, in addition to a Dinosaur Adventure T-shirt, cotton candy, a custom Dinosaur Adventure backpack and live entertainment VIP viewing area for a child and a parent.

Discounted tickets are available for military and seniors with photo ID.
