Monster Jam roars into Pittsburgh next year
It’ll keep you on the edge of your seat.
Monster Jam is coming back to Pittsburgh next year.
The venerable monster truck tour will tear up PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh for four shows between Friday, Feb. 9 through Sunday, Feb. 11.
The 12,000-pound monster trucks and their drivers, or athletes, will have shows at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 9; 1 and 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb 10; and 1 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 11. A special Pit Party is available on Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 am. to 12 p.m.
Fans are encouraged to get to their seats early to experience Monster Jam Trackside before the event start time for featured events and introductions.
The truck lineup includes Grave Digger driven by Weston Anderson; El Toro Loco driven by Elvis Lainez; Scooby-Doo driven by Linsey Read; Monster Mutt Dalmatian driven by Jamie Sullivan; Megalodon driven by Mikayla Tulachka; Just Get-Er-Done driven by Brandan Tulachka; and others trucks and drivers to be announced.
The show will feature trucks and drivers performing stunts as well as racing in head-to-head battles.
Tickets are available starting Wednesday for Monster Jam preferred customers. Tickets go on-sale to the general public on Tuesday, Sept. 19. Tickets are available here.
In 2020, ahead of their competition, the Tribune-Review looked at what it takes to transform the arena — which usually serves as the home ice for the Pittsburgh Penguins or the venue for musical tours like Aerosmith, Paramore or Blink-182 — into a massive dirt and mud track for the trucks and souped-up vehicles to do their tricks.
It took sixty trucks carrying 1,200 yards of clay dirt to cover the arena floor.
“It takes us about eight hours to bring it in and build it,” said Kenny Henry, track construction manager for Feld Entertainment, a Florida-based company which produces the event. “It is easier to remove — takes about five hours.”
