Poetry Unplugged at the August Wilson Center celebrates Martin Luther King Jr.
The fourth annual Poetry Unplugged takes place Friday night at Pittsburgh’s August Wilson African American Cultural Center.
The evening features spoken word and music with artists from around the country using the life and work of Martin Luther King Jr. as inspiration.

Billed as an evening of “truth and power,” the event will be hosted by Mahogany Browne and includes featured poets Browne, Jessica Care Moore and Ursula Rucker.
Browne is a California born, Brooklyn, N.Y.-based writer, educator, activist, mentor and curator. Moore is founder and executive producer Black Women Rock!, a movement spearheaded to support black women who play guitar, cello, drums, sing or write poetry.
Moore, a Detroit native, is the CEO of Moore Black Press and executive producer of Black Women Rock! She is a poet, playwright, performance artist and producer.
Rucker is a poet and activist from Philadelphia.
Tickets are $23.75. The event begins at 8 p.m.
