Stories of “remote journeys, ground-breaking expeditions, and cutting-edge adventures told through the eyes of adventurers, authors, photographers, and filmmakers from around the globe” will come to Pittsburgh as the Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour plays the Byham Theater from April 5-7.
The festival spans nine days each fall in Banff, Alberta, Canada, with the world tour of select films following in Canada, the United States and countries around the globe.
There are 36 films on the 2018/2019 World Tour. Not all films play every location — a standard program features between six and 10 films.
Among films featured in the tour at various locations are:
Beaver Believers
The 12-minute film follows hairdresser/certified live beaver trapper Sherrie Tippie who works to restore the North American Beaver to the watersheds of the American West.
Boy Nomad
The 20-minute film chronicles the winter migration of 9-year old Janibek, who loves racing horses, and his family in Mongolia’s Altai Mountains.
Dream Ride
The 6-minute mountain bike film was inspired by a Dr. Seuss narrative.
Screening times at the Byham are 7 p.m. April 5-6 and 3 p.m. April 7. Tickets start at $20.
