James Holzhauer didn’t just want to break the single-day record for “Jeopardy.” He wanted to smash it.
And in his own peculiar way, he did not disappoint.
Dude is a #Jeopardy legend... he’s a strange cat... but a legend nonetheless. New daily record of $110,914. pic.twitter.com/UX1xASMzsv— Justin Warmoth (@JustinWarmoth) April 9, 2019
Holzhauer, 34-year-old professional sports gambler, bet $38,314 on Final Jeopardy to finish with $110,914 for the most money won since 2010 when Roger Craig claimed the record with $77,000.
Okay mind blown. He needed $4,400 to beat the one day record. He said “NAH! I’m a gambler. I got something for y’all.” ??? #Jeopardy pic.twitter.com/y0CeqazM76— Marcella (@TranceRevolved) April 9, 2019
The win Tuesday night was the Naperville, Ill., native’s fourth consecutive with a total more than $244,000. Holzhauer, who lives in Las Vegas, will face two new challengers Wednesday, when he will attempt to win his fifth consecutive game.
Wow. I’ll leave it there. #jeopardy pic.twitter.com/CfwR9x7xUL— Bookish Uranian (@BookishUranian) April 9, 2019
“I said all along that I wanted to break Roger Craig’s one-game record and I did it,” Holzhauer said.
