Court will soon be adjourned.
The “Judge Judy” court. But don’t worry, the snark behind the bench will go on.
Judy Sheindlin, the acerbic adjudicator who dispenses justice on the syndicated “Judge Judy,” announced that after this coming season, the 25th, CBS has opted to forego new episodes.
She spilled the beans, USA Today reports, on Ellen DeGeneres’ show set to air Monday.
“Next year will be our 25th season: Silver anniversary,” Sheindlin said. “And CBS, I think, sort of felt they wanted to optimally use the repeats of my program, because now they have 25 years of reruns. So what they decided to do was to sell a couple of years worth of reruns.”
But Sheindlin isn’t retiring from the bench.
“I’m not tired,” she told DeGeneres. “So ‘Judy Justice’ will be coming out a year later. … If you’re not tired, you’re not supposed to stop.”
Sheindlin wasn’t at liberty to divulge when her new show was slated to begin.
So, just to review: “Judge Judy” is ending new shows after next season. Then, in 2021 or possibly 2022, Sheindlin will deliver her unique critique on “Judy Justice.”
