'NBC Nightly News' to broadcast from Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh will be in the national spotlight this week when “NBC Nightly News” broadcasts live from the city on Tuesday night.
As part of their “Reporting for America” campaign, the news program is bringing the broadcast to a number of metropolitan areas around the country, and their Tuesday night stop will be right here in Pittsburgh.
The Pittsburgh trip will fall before a stop in Houston. A planned broadcast from Cleveland on Monday night has been rescheduled due to breaking news.
Launched in November, the campaign is meant to reaffirm the core journalistic values of NBC News.
“Over the past few months, we’ve been listening closely to Americans, and what we’ve heard is clear. People are not disinterested in news. Rather, they are hungry for civil discourse and trustworthy reporting that can empower them to make up their own minds. Exactly what NBC News stands for,” said Cesar Conde, chairman of NBCUniversal News Group.
Anchored by Tom Llamas, “NBC Nightly News” will air at 6:30 p.m. local time. The show has recently averaged just over 6 million viewers per night.
But one mystery remains: for security reasons, the news program is not disclosing the location where Tuesday night’s program will be filmed. This mystery has fueled light-hearted speculation on Reddit.
The show will broadcast on Channel 11 on Tuesday night.
