In this episode of the “Pittsburgh Pop” podcast, host Tim Benz and TV Talk columnist Rob Owen discuss Pittsburgh pop culture news of the moment, including the decline of TV ratings for Steelers games in a season where NFL ratings generally rebounded.

Benz and Owen discuss the “True Story” episode featuring Steelers fan Rick Steigerwald, who recounts sneaking into a Steelers Super Bowl.

Owen sings the praises of “American Downton Abbey,” AKA “The Gilded Age,” which features a Carnegie Mellon grad in a starring role.

And the pair discuss the cancellation of Showtime’s filmed-in-Western-Pennsylvania “American Rust,” which production company Boat Rocker says it’s trying to find a new home for: “Boat Rocker is currently actively searching for a new home for ‘American Rust’ and in discussions with a number of different buyers,” the company said in a statement. “This is a premium piece of content, based on an acclaimed novel, that was hitting its stride with viewers. We are working to find a way to continue to tell this story.”

However, Owen is doubtful that will happen.
