Pittsburgh Pop podcast: Talking Johnstown Flood special on History Channel, Super Bowl ratings, ‘Severance’
In this episode of the “Pittsburgh Pop” podcast, host Tim Benz and TV Talk columnist Rob Owen discuss Pittsburgh pop culture news of the moment, including what former WTAE-TV anchor Kelly Frey is up to now and a new Johnstown Flood episode of “I Was There” debuting tonight on History Channel.
Benz and Owen dig into the Super Bowl ratings, which rose considerably in 2022 compared to 2021. “Super Bowl LVI” on NBC drew more than 100 million linear TV viewers, up from 92 million in 2021 on CBS, with Pittsburgh the No. 3 market for viewership nationally behind Cincinnati and Detroit.
And Owen offers his take on the chilly, intriguing new Apple TV+ drama with flashes of dark, absurd comedy, “Severance.”
