Rocky Bleier doc included at Pittsburgh Shorts Film Festival
Film Pittsburgh’s Pittsburgh Shorts Film Festival at SouthSide Works Cinema opens Friday with the documentary about former Pittsburgh Steeler Rocky Bleier’s return to Vietnam.
“The Return” chronicles the journey of Bleier, who was wounded in Vietnam and told he would never play football again. Bleier proved everyone wrong. The running back went on to win four Super Bowl rings with the Steelers.
Bleier is scheduled attend the screening of the 27-minute documentary and take part in a question-and-answer period following. The film begins at 7 p.m.

The third annual festival runs through Thursday. There will be 116 short films from 33 countries. Other highlights include an “all ages” block on Saturday, beginning at 10:30 a.m. The first-ever script competition with seated readings of the script finalists by Pittsburgh actors is on Monday.
