After a fall in August 2018 requiring surgery, WQED producer Rick Sebak began a long recovery in UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital’s transitional care unit.
His friends and fans soon began showering him with gifts, surprises and plenty of food.
Naturally, he has turned the experience into a new program for his crowd-funded “Nebby” series, detailing his trials and tribulations .
“My Seven Weeks in Magee” will premiere at 8 p.m. Dec. 19 on WQED.
Sebak also took to social media to thank those making his recuperation a little more tasteful.
In addition to receiving regular deliveries of his favorite foods, Sebak recalls enjoying a visit from his favorite local band, the Beagle Brothers.
“It’s been an unusual task for me to put this together,” Sebak says.
The program includes photos and short videos from his hospital stay, and is the eighth and final edition of his “Nebby” series.
”I’m not used to having myself as the center of one of my shows, but I think it’s a good way to express just a bit of thanks to all the folks who visited and made the seven weeks fly by,” Sebak adds.
