The first trailer for “Sonic The Hedgehog” polarized the internet Tuesday.

One camp slammed the appearance of the hedgehog character and doubted the overall storyline.

Others spotted Jim Carrey’s villain, Eggman, as the highlight of the upcoming film.

Carrey and Sonic were both trending Tuesday on Twitter as Paramount Pictures released the first public peek.

The movie stars a blue hedgehog popularized by Sega in their video game series. The hero has supersonic speed and uses it to combat antagonist Doctor Eggman and his evil plots.
