Lego Deadpool was among the fan favorites at Steel City Con in Monroeville in December.

Comic book lovers and pop culture enthusiasts will have to wait a while longer for their much anticipated convention.

Steel City Con, one of the largest conventions in the nation and exclusive to the Monroeville Convention Center, has been postponed again due to covid-19 safety concerns.

It was previously rescheduled from June to Aug. 14-15.

Organizers announced via Facebook on Wednesday that they have moved it to Dec. 4-6.

The postponement came after Gov. Tom Wolf issued his latest restrictions on gatherings during this stage of the pandemic.

“We did not take this difficult decision lightly knowing that our vendors as small businesses are struggling to survive through this unprecedented situation,” convention organizers posted. “Steel City Con also has an obligation to our guests by providing them enough advance notice in order to modify your travel plans.

“We understand the financial impact that this postponement may have on our vendors, fans, staff, celebrities and other small businesses that rely on shows such as ours. … We were holding onto hope that our August event would continue as planned. Please be patient with us as we work through all the details, and we will update you regularly on this unprecedented situation.”

Organizers said celebrity guests were also able to reschedule their visits as of Wednesday.

Exhibitors are expected to have their paid and guaranteed spots all rescheduled, too.

More information about the event is available at steelcitycon.com.
