Ah, the infancy of the internet. Do you even remember how cheesy those websites were?

Well, Marvel does. And it’s made the most of it when it came time to launch the official website for its latest super hero flick, “Captain Marvel.”

In case you’ve been under a rock lately, the movie is set in the 1990s and stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, a one-time U.S. Air Force fighter pilot who becomes one of the galaxy’s greatest forces when her DNA becomes fused with that of Kree. She fights on Starforce as they face off against the Skrulls, and …

Seriously, you gotta see this website!

The slowly flickering star background, the fonts (Comic Sans, Chancery), HTML frames, the visitor counter. It’s all ’90s gold.

Even the trailer comes in a miniature Windows Media Player window.

The guestbook comments are dead on. From @Roy_T’s comment, “All your base are belong to us!” to @Greg’s post that “This whole “Internet” thing is a fad,” they nailed it.

And for goodness sake, don’t miss punching (clicking) that old-lady (she’s really a Skrull in disguise) that pops up randomly around the page.

It’s all a thoroughly delightful trip back in time.
