Billy Porter’s feature film directorial debut, shot last summer in Pittsburgh under the title “What If?” but now called “Anything’s Possible,” will debut July 22 on streaming service Amazon Prime Video.
Variety broke the news of the release date and platform.
The $10 million film is a joyful coming-of-age story about a confident, trans high school girl (newcomer Eva Reign) who gets asked out by a nerdy but cute guy (Abubakr Ali).
Other “Anything’s Possible” cast members include Porter’s fellow Carnegie Mellon University grads Renee Elise Goldsberry, Simone Joy Jones, Manu Narayan, Grant Reynolds and CMU student Noah Pacht and Point Park University graduate Caroline Travers.
Porter has said the film’s title had to change after Marvel’s “What If…?” animated series debuted last summer on Disney+.
