Pittsburgh native and TV’s “Pose” star Billy Porter will bring his feature film directorial debut home, shooting the movie “What If?” in Western Pennsylvania this summer.

Porter confirmed the filming during an interview on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Tuesday while promoting the final season of FX’s “Pose,” which kicks off with two episodes airing at 10 p.m. Sunday.

“What If?” tells the story of a high school senior who posts on social media about his crush on a trans girl (British newcomer Yasmin Finney) at his school.

The movie is being produced by Orion Pictures, a division of MGM.

Porter won an Emmy in 2019 for his “Pose” role. He previously starred in Broadway’s “Kinky Boots” and told Kimmel he has directed theater productions for the past 20 years.
