TV Talk: WTAE-TV adds Kasey Reigner as 5th meteorologist
Kasey Reigner will join WTAE-TV this month as the ABC affiliate’s fifth meteorologist, giving the station bragging rights in a market where four weathercasters is the norm. (Currently WPXI-TV is down to three meteorologists since the May departure of Danielle Dozier, a position that has yet to be filled.)
Reigner, who grew up outside Chicago, majored in meteorology and atmospheric sciences at Penn State, graduating in May 2020. She previously worked at TV stations in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and was most recently a forecaster at WAND-TV in Decatur, Ill., where she offered forecasts weekend evenings and Monday through Wednesday at 12 and 4 p.m. She has a family dog named Thunder, but her cat Doppler will join Reigner in Pittsburgh.
At Channel 4, Reigner will work weekend mornings alongside newcomer anchor Tom Garris. Brian Hutton Jr., who had been on the weekend morning shift since joining WTAE in April, moves to weekend evenings following Jeff Verszyla’s shift to 12 and 4 p.m. weekdays over the summer with the launch of the 4 p.m. newscast.
