Wiz Khalifa joins cast of Fox animated comedy 'Duncanville'

Rapper Wiz Khalifa is going from the weed farm to the schoolhouse.

The Pittsburgh-area native has joined the cast of “Duncanville,” an animated primetime comedy set to debut on Fox in the 2019-20 season.

Khalifa will voice Mr. Mitch, “the cool teacher/guidance counselor, occasional gym coach and nurse” at the school of lead character Duncan, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Amy Poehler, co-creator of the show with “The Simpsons” veterans Mike and Julie Scully, will voice Duncan, a “spectacularly average” 15-year-old boy with a rich fantasy life. She also will do the voice of Duncan’s mother, Annie.

Ty Burrell will play Duncan’s father, Jack, a plumber obsessed with classic rock and posting about his family on Facebook.

“‘Duncanville’ is one of the freshest animated concepts we’ve seen, and has an insane pedigree of comedic talent across the board,” Fox Entertainment president Michael Thorn said in October 2018 when the show was picked up.
