WQED airing classic 'Mister Rogers Neighborhood' episodes
We all could use some of Mister Rogers’ positivity right about now.
WQED will air three classic episodes of “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” starting at 7:30 p.m. April 16 and is encouraging viewers to interact on social media while they are airing, bringing people together for a virtual family movie night amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The station is asking viewers to participate by using the following hashtags: #CardigansAtHome, #AtHomeWithWQED and #AtHomeWithMrRogers.
Viewers are encouraged to wear their cardigans and post #CardigansAtHome selifies. Kids can post drawings using that hashtag to be entered in a raffle for a jumbo box of crayons, the station said.
Here are the episodes:
• 7:30 p.m.: “How People Make Crayons” — A favorite factory tour from 1981, “How People Make Crayons” is featured in this episode. As Mister Rogers draws with crayons, he says that each person’s drawing is unique and encourages drawing as a helpful way to express what children are feeling.
• 8 p.m.: “Cellist Yo-Yo-Ma/How People Make Bass Violins” — An episode from 1985
• 8:30 p.m.: “Musical Games/Talking About Feelings” — An episode from 1982
