The Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh asked people to spread joy and kindness with Pittsburgh and the world by singing and playing along to Fred Rogers’ iconic song, “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?”, and then sharing their videos.

The response led to to a compilation that the Children’s Museum is sharing on its “Museum at Home” activities web page, as well as its YouTube channel and its social media channels on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

The response “was both amazing and heartwarming, with more than 20 individual and families from far and wide sharing their performances of the song,” the museum says.

Submissions included a cappella solos, family quartets and instrumental renditions on the clarinet, french horn, guitar, piano and maracas.

Museum staffers say they hope to make this the first of many “Neighborhood Singalongs.”

The Museum also is sharing the submissions as part of the many celebratory activities that will take place on Pennsylvania’s annual statewide 1-4-3 Day of Kindness honoring Fred Rogers on Friday.

The Mister Rogers “Neighborhood Singalong” also will be played for visitors to the museum in Pittsburgh’s North Side when it reopens.
