Those with Irish heritage can attend the Irish Genealogy Workshop at the Senator John Heinz History Center on March 17.

Curious about your Irish ancestors? Need help tracing your family tree back to the Emerald Isle? The Detre Library & Archives at the Senator John Heinz History Center is hosting its sixth annual Irish Genealogy Workshop on St. Patrick’s Day.

Irish genealogy experts Fintan Mullan and Gillian Hunt from the Ulster Historical Foundation in Belfast will share information on genealogical sources found in Ireland.

Topics of discussion this year include the best websites for starting family research, census substitutes for the 18th and 19th centuries, and early 19th-century land records.

The Westmoreland Historical Society and other local genealogical societies will also share best practices and local resources for family history research.

Participants will have the chance to network with fellow researchers and attend a curator-led tour of the History Center’s Irish American collection.
