Two children’s art classes are planned during July at the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art-Ligonier Valley.

The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art-Ligonier Valley is planning two on-site children’s art camps in July. Sessions include:

• Camp 1 for ages 5-9, 9 a.m.-noon July 6-10

Sessions will tap into children’s natural curiosity to explore art materials in new ways. Participants will create mixed-media art while having fun playing with toys then making new toys to take home. Camp will provide social interaction, collaboration and imaginative engagement through artistic exploration.

Some of the various materials/activities children will investigate include paper, paint, marbling, bubble art, chalk, Legos, puzzles, stamps and ice.

Instructor will be Amy Roadman. Cost is $120.

• Camp 2 for ages 10-16, 1-4 p.m. weekdays, July 20-31

Students will be introduced to various materials and explore a multitude of techniques. During the first week, students will investigate how different mediums are transformed by the introduction of water. In the second week, students will delve into media art, creating logos and designs using traditional “retro” methods.

Instructor will be Rita Haldeman. Cost is $225.

All safety protocols will be met. The museum address is 1 Boucher Lane, Ligonier Township.
