Seemingly working sculptural magic with metal, the works of Pittsburgh artist Dan Droz will be featured in Gallery 900.

The opening reception is set for 5:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday. Gallery 900 is next to Zynka Gallery, 904 Main St., Sharpsburg.

Droz’s exhibition “Transformations II” will feature 30 new sculptures and wall constructions. His most recent work explores the sculptural space between two and three dimensions. Droz fashions aluminum panels, bars and rods to create complex forms without the use of welding or mechanical connections.

Some of the artwork literally glows from within. Droz uses fluorescent finishes to coat the interior spaces and reverse sides of his pieces. According to Droz, this illuminating effect promotes the understanding that the most important things are those that are not easily observed.

Droz has a second show in Harrisburg showcasing more than 50 new sculptures, wall pieces and suspended works. The shows are a joint effort by Jeff Jarzynka, owner of the Zynka Gallery, and Michael Hertrich, of the Hertrich Gallery in Harrisburg. Hertrich moved from Pittsburgh to Harrisburg.

A second exhibition opening is planned at Zynka Gallery at the same time for Paul Mullins, a visual artist and teacher at local universities with more than 20 years of practice in drawing and painting. His “Everybody Is Here” exhibition of small works will feature drawings of dogs and paintings of toy packaging.

Droz’s exhibition runs through March 31, while Mullins’ continues until April 18. Gallery 900, a pop-up gallery, can be accessed through the Zynka Gallery. Hours for both are Thursdays 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Fridays 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free.
