Tonight’s “Extraordinary Measures” online concert from the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra will provide viewers with an extra treat.
The symphony’s rendition of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6, “Pastoral,” scheduled for a future CD release, will be accompanied by images of artworks and photos from The Westmoreland Museum of American Art, Carnegie Museum of Art, Phipps Conservatory and photographer Paul Selvaggio.
PSO musicians also will share photos of their favorite spots in nature.
The program, celebrating the arrival of spring and the upcoming 50th anniversary of Earth Week, will be posted on the symphony’s website at 8 p.m.
Series host, PSO music director Manfred Honeck, will introduce the program and guide viewers through the movements.
Following the music, a conversation from PSO musicians Cynthia Koledo DeAlmeida, Nancy Goeres, Lorna McGhee and Michael Rusinek will provide additional insights.
