Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh is asking people to share fun ways to sat “hi” while social distancing. Here, two boys climb Tim Kaulen’s “One Great Blue” sculpture during a 2016 visit to the North Side museum.

Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh is sponsoring a “New Ways to Say Hi” challenge, asking kids of all ages and families to share the special ways they are saying “hi” while social distancing.

Those wishing to participate are asked to submit a photo or short video (10-15 seconds recommended) showing creative ways to greet others from a distance.

Some suggestions include posting signs in a window, painting messages on rocks, making heart hands and holding up signs during video chats.

A compilation of submissions will be posted on the Children’s Museum Museum at Home web page and social media channels, including facebook.com/pittsburghkids and Instagram and Twitter @pghkids.

Submissions also will be displayed in the museum on the city’s North Side when it reopens.

“For more than 25 years, Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh has accentuated the ‘hi’ in its name to welcome children and families. The Museum has represented ‘hi’ in lots of creative media, including silkscreen, laser cutting, inflatables, paint, cardboard and circuitry,” according to a release. “We even answer the phone with, ‘Hi, we’re having a great time at Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh!’”
