Westmoreland Museum has new virtual programming for June
The Westmoreland Museum of American Art has announced its #MuseumFromHome offerings for June.
The programs include a new virtual exhibition and other opportunities inspired by the “Complementary Exhibition to African American Art in the 20th Century” in the Greensburg museum’s Post 1950s Gallery.
Programming available via the museum’s website includes:
• “Acupuncture Photography Project,” a virtual exhibition collaboration between acupuncturist Emily Andrews and Greensburg photographer Autumn Stankay. The exhibition includes photographs representing the ancient medicine of acupuncture in the modern world and a conversation between Andrews and Stankay.
• Virtual Enrichment Video Series, with installments focusing on the nine artists and artworks featured in the “Complementary Exhibition to African American Art in the 20th Century.”
• Printable coloring pages, including three boat-themed artworks from the museum collection: Frank Weston Benson’s “Dory Fisherman,” Lawrence Kupferman’s “Tugs, Boston Harbor” and Thomas Wentzel’s “Untitled (River Scene with Barge).”
• RML Jazz, 7 p.m. June 10, a concert prerecorded at Seton Hill University paired with a curated visual presentation of spring and summer-themed artworks from the museum’s permanent collection.
• Pop-Up Studio, 6-8 p.m. June 24. More details of the upcoming art activity will be posted soon. Currently available on the museum website are a materials list and step-by-step instructions for creating a watercolor painting inspired by Maurice Brazil Prendergast’s “Bathers, St. Malo,” a watercolor in the museum’s permanent collection.
