Buy a drink at the Bar Car at 'Music on the Mon' on Pittsburgh's South Side
This place to get a drink has wheels.
The Bar Car, a 1972 Airstream vintage vehicle, will be parked at the SouthSide Works for its “Music on the Mon” event which debuts Friday. Penn Hills native Bill Deasy will be performing at 7 p.m. with three friends. Also on stage that night will be Pittsburgh-based Ferdinand the Bull, an indie-folk band.

The mobile bar will be located at an outdoor venue named The North Lot. It’s a green space that overlooks the Monongahela River and is next to the Hyatt House on South Water Street.
The Bar Car will eventually have a permanent spot in the Town Center in the fall.

There will be canned cocktails by ALCO, from the makers of New Liberty Distillery in Philadelphia. Erie’s Mazza Vineyards will be included with wines from red to moscato to rose. Hard ciders from Brother Monk Ciderworks in Northern Cambria will be for sale as will beer from Helltown Brewing in the Strip District .
Now more than ever, people want to be outside and they want to enjoy great local food and drink, said Jonathon Reeser, director of acquisitions for SomeraRoad, Inc., which owns SouthSide Works, via email.
“As we planned to transform SouthSide Works Town Center, we quickly identified the need for a mobile, all-season concept,” Reeser said. “Our goal is to make SouthSide Works a true community asset, and it starts with new and different amenities, like the Bar Car, which also provide unique opportunities for future tenants.”
