Dead & Company fans rant on social media about traffic at Star Lake
Dead & Company returned to the Pittsburgh area on Monday night for a show at the Pavilion at Star Lake near Burgettstown.
Although fans enjoyed the band’s fifth trip to the area since 2016, they did not enjoy the traffic.
In a post with almost 300 comments on the Dead & Company’s Facebook page, concertgoers did not hold back in expressing their frustration with the traffic situation getting to the venue.
“Four hours to get there from Pittsburgh. Three of those hours were within the last two miles to the venue,” explained Bill Stiner in a comment. “Been to hundreds of shows and this is by far the worst situation I’ve ever seen. By far.”
Many had no choice but to leave their vehicles on the side of the road just to be able to make it into the concert.
“Definitely had to abandon the ride about two miles away from the venue and walk,” wrote Mike Lotenero. “Some folks just parked on the freeway too, wild night!”
The comments did not stop at Facebook. Fans, including WDVE’s Randy Baumann, took to Twitter to voice their complaints.
Left south hills after 4pm and still in the car waiting to get into Dead and Co. there are a million cars behind us.
We’ll I guess we’ll do Shakedown next year oh wait #thefinaltour

Ok so one more thing on the disaster of a traffic situation at Star Lake last night.
There were so many people who bailed out of their cars and left them along 22/30 near the exit in both directions. In the past they towed those cars.
Did you people get your car back?

@Pav_StarLake Who do I contact for a refund on my 2 @deadandcompany tickets that I wasn’t able to use because of your inability to run your facility. 3 hours in traffic to move less than a half mile.

Although Star Lake took to social media before the show to inform attendees of traffic procedures, this is not the first time the venue has run into these issues.
The venue is located off of Route 18, a four-lane highway, near its intersection with Route 22-30. Individuals must turn off the four-lane highway onto the two-lane Star Lake Lane before parking and entering the show.
Apparently the traffic for the Dead and Co. show at Star Lake Pavilion outside of Pittsburgh is so bad that people are waiting hours to move just a few miles. Many people still waiting in traffic and the show has begun pic.twitter.com/SuINQmKgda

Many explained that they will not return to the location because of the conditions.
“We will never be back to Star Lake after this,” wrote Eric Johnson in reply to the venue’s post.
By the way, here’s the setlist in case you were late for the show or didn’t make it.
