Brrr! Winter weather has arrived in Pittsburgh and we’re all feeling the chill. But that’s no excuse to stay home — bundle up and head out to see what’s going on in the ‘Burgh this weekend.
Handmade Arcade Holiday Market
It’s the thought that counts when it comes to gift-giving, so why not do your holiday shopping at a market full of local makers who put plenty of love into their wares? This weekend is Handmade Arcade’s holiday market, and it’s bound to be a unique shopping experience.
The market will fill the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Downtown Pittsburgh with more than 275 vendors selling a vast array of goods to please even the pickiest person on your list. They even offer a sensory-friendly shopping experience on Friday night.
Tickets for the sensory-friendly shopping session from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday and the general admission market from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday are pay-what-you-can. There will also be a preview party and fundraiser from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, with $30 tickets and an early bird shopping time block from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday with $25 tickets. Not Your Average Holiday Parade
YaJagoff Media will be bringing their Not Your Average Holiday Parade to Downtown this Saturday for a local twist on a holiday staple.
At six stops throughout Downtown, the Pittsburgh-themed party vehicle The Burgh Bus will unload a number of local luminaries to have pop-up parade parties starting at 10 a.m. Saturday. The bus will stop at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, The Gingerbread House display outside of the City County Building, PPG Ice Rink, PPG Place, Third Ave Suite 100, Market Square, the Holiday Kids Play & Selfie Garden on Fort Duquesne Boulevard, and Santa’s House at Heinz Hall Courtyard.

Explore Pittsburgh’s South Side and get into the winter spirit at this Saturday’s event. Eat, drink, dance, craft and connect for a fun-filled weekend festival in Bedford Square.
Get drinks at Velum Fermentation; take in local tunes at Club Cafe; craft some snowflakes with Brewhouse Artists; enjoy local bites from vendors including La Palapa, Cilantro & Ajo and Standing Wave Coffee; shop at the Winter Market; and don’t forget to stick around to see Santa and Mrs. Claus make their grand entrance on the 15203 fire engine.
The event is free and all-ages with food and drink for purchase. While the main event happens from 3 to 7 p.m., don’t miss out on the 7 to 10 p.m. afterparty. Learn more at the Facebook event here.
Jingle Bell Run
This fun-filled event benefits the Arthritis Foundation and gets you moving and warmed up on a cold, wintry Saturday. The Jingle Bell Run offers 5K run and walk races as well as a kids’ run, all to benefit the Arthritis Foundation.
Registration is available day of. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday and the kids’ fun run will be held at 9:15 a.m. ahead of the opening ceremony at 9:45 a.m. Then get warmed up for the 10 a.m. 5K run or walk for those 10 and up, and watch the winners get their medals (or get one of your own!) at the 11:15 a.m. awards ceremony.
Registration fees vary for this fundraising event. It will take place on Saturday at the Mazeroski Way Cul-de-Sac on Pittsburgh’s North Shore. Check out events.arthritis.org for more information.
‘Holiday Road’ benefit concert
‘Tis the season for music and giving! For both, head to “Holiday Road,” an all-star concert held in Downtown Pittsburgh that will benefit the Greater Pittsburgh Community Foodbank.
Performers include Acoustic Union, Artistree, Tom Breiding, Corned Beef & Curry, Cranberry Men’s Choir (3 Handsome Lads), Casey & Dan Deely, Eric George, Franklin & Frankenberry, Jeska, Brandon Lehman, Joel Lindsey, Jesse Lowry, Paxton & Ava, Soulful Femme, Steel Town Horns and Sugar Ray. DJ Digital Dave and Holiday Harmonies Carolers entertain during cocktail hour. The show will also feature Jason Kendall and the Jason Kendall Productions House Band, one of the region’s most popular event bands.
