Time flies when you’re rockin’ the house.

The 40th anniversary of “Have a Good Time (But Get Out Alive),” the second album from Joe Grushecky and the Iron City Houserockers, is being celebrated with a deluxe, expanded reissue.

The reissue will include remastered original tracks and previously unreleased tracks of demos and other rarities from the longtime Pittsburgh-based band.

Called “a new American classic” by Rolling Stone following its 1980 debut, the album will roll out as a digital release on Friday, with CD and vinyl following on June 19.

The original “Have a Good Time” was produced by a trio of rock legends — Ian Hunter, Mick Ronson and Steven Van Zandt — and was hailed by singer Robert Palmer for “bringing fresh energy to a hallowed and somewhat moribund rock tradition.”

Van Zandt, best known as a member of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, also played lead guitar on the track, “Junior’s Bar.”

The band dropped “Iron City” from its name in 1983 and disbanded in 1984, regrouping later with various members, earning more critical acclaim than nationwide attention.

In 1995, Grushecky began collaborating with Springsteen, leading to the album “American Babylon,” on which Springsteen produced, co-wrote songs and contributed vocals and guitar. Springsteen also played lead guitar on a tour celebrating the album’s release.

The Houserockers’ latest release is “More Yesterdays Than Tomorrows,” from 2018.
