Start believin’. Journey is coming back to Pittsburgh.

The classic rockers have announced that their Freedom Tour 2022 will open Feb. 22 at PPG Paints Arena. Special guest will be punk rocker Billy Idol.

The tour is in support of a new album, “Freedom,” set for release next year on a date still to be announced. Tour audiences also will hear songs from the band’s deep catalog, going back to its eponymous debut studio album in 1975.

“It’s that time — time to get back to where we are used to being — on stage,” founding member Neal Schon said in a statement. “We are looking forward to shifting into high gear and bringing you the best show possible. The band is running on all 12 cylinders and very excited.”

Journey’s top hits through the years include “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Any Way You Want It,” “Faithfully,” “Lights,” “Wheel in the Sky,” “Who’s Crying Now” and “Separate Ways.”

The band has 25 gold and platinum albums, along with 19 Top 40 singles and sales of 48 million albums in the U.S.

The current lineup includes Schon on guitar, Arnel Pineda on lead vocals, Randy Jackson on bass and Jonathan Cain on keyboards, along with Jason Derlatka on keyboards and backing vocals and Deen Castranovo on drums and backing vocals.

Idol, known for hits like “White Wedding,” “Rebel Yell,” “Dancing With Myself” and “Eyes Without a Face,” will be backed by his own band.

He will accompany Journey on the first leg of the 40-city tour, which runs through May 11, with classic rockers Toto taking over in April.

Tickets will go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Friday via Ticketmaster. A presale for Citi cardholders begins at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
