Flatland Cavalry performs on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023, at the Outlaw Music Festival at the Pavilion at Star Lake in Burgettstown.

Willie Nelson just isn’t ready to stay home. Even after turning 90 earlier this year, the country music legend was “On the Road Again” Saturday as the Outlaw Music Festival visited the Pavilion at Star Lake in Burgettstown.

Unfortunately for fans in attendance, thunderstorms — rather than Nelson’s “Blue Skies” — led to several weather delays and shortened, or cancelled, sets for some artists.

The festival also featured John Fogerty, best known as the singer/guitarist of Creedence Clearwater Revival.

After playing 90 minutes Friday night outside Cleveland, Fogerty had an abbreviated set because of the inclement weather. He managed to squeeze in most of CCR’s hits including, appropriately, “Who’ll Stop the Rain” and “Have You Ever Seen the Rain?”

Canadian singer Kathleen Edwards had planned to wear a borrowed Pittsburgh Penguins Marty McSorley jersey in reference of her song “I Make the Dough, You Get the Glory,” which features the line “You’re the Great One, I’m Marty McSorley.”

Rain, however, scuttled the set of Edwards, who said on Twitter that she was “heartbroken” to not get to play in Pittsburgh.

Other acts included Flatland Cavalry, Particle Kid (aka Micah Nelson, Willie’s son) and Myron Elkins.

Next up at Star Lake is a sold-out show Tuesday featuring country/rock/rap star Jelly Roll.
